NASCAR uses E15, not E85.

Alcohol has always been a great race fuel because if its high octane. However, it has always been a terrible fuel in a daily driver that is expected to last more than 500 miles, and start when cold.

You are right, though, flex fuel is the perfect loophole around CAFE. Make all vehicles flex fuel to get the credit, and the buyers can just run gasoline in them.
