The dual mode aftermarket exhausts require you to have NPP from the factory.

If you have it, you have a whole world of possibilities for exhausts between ones that retain the NPP abilities to go quiet when you need it to all the way to ones that eliminate the NPP but still give you the quad exhaust pipes and nicer body trim.

To me, even now that I am going to a Borla S-Type with NPP compatibility, I still feel that the initial cost to get the factory NPP was worth it. The only way that I would forego NPP in these 6th gens is if I was going full-race-car.
