The advantage of the alpha platform is its ability to scale, simplicity and cost. Sometimes it may lead to overall weight savings but when cars are built to equal sizes, as in the case of the SS Sedan and Vsport, there is no tangible difference in final weight. The benefit comes on the smaller end, making a car like the ATS which would be impossible with the Zeta or Sigma platforms and making them for less $$$.
