The 0.50:1 6th gear (vs. 0.57:1) + lower weight + better aero (from 5th gen) should help get respectable fuel economy on the highway. The manual Vette is rated at 17/29. I'd expect the manual LT1 camaro to be around 16/28 or within 1mpg of that on the EPA tests.
I'm surprised you're able to get as high as 33mpg. Is this an actual measured # or what the ECM is estimating?
