If the hearsay about Ford is true and they indeed release the base Mustang with a 310HP turbo 4 (and would probably get low to mid 30s MPG), then I think Chevy has two options:

1) If they only want to offer two engine choices for base or "SS" trim, well then their turbo is going to have to be 300+ HP as well. I don't logically see where a turbo 4 with this much power leaves room for a V6 unfortuently.

2) Offer 3 engine choices. A base 270 HP turbo 4 that gets as good or better MPGs as Fords Turbo4. Then offer a 330+HP V6 that should be able to get over 30 MPG (shouldn't be a problem in the smaller lighter car). Finally the "SS" engine option.

I really hope to see a V6 option but I have my doubts. I don't see them offering a turbo V6 either if a V8 is still an option. To me, the turbo V6 would likely be just as expensive, and if they used the 3.0 V6 it would probably be tuned to have less power than the V8.
