For the Camaro to survive and be a platform where a splendid small displacement V8 to reside there will likely have to be a 4 cylinder variant. Not because we do or do not want one, not because GM can or can not sell one but simply because of the upcoming CAFE standards.

As long as there is an SS, a Zxx then no one on this website should care the least little bit about whether there is a 4 cylinder available or not. It has nothing to do with a V8 and it's ultimate performance and in no way belittles a V8 version.

In time, to make our government happy and meet the regulations that were put in place by people WE ALL voted into office the Camaro will likely have the following technologies like Start Stop and a Mild or Full Hybrid.

We should all be doing one of two things at this point. 1) getting our elected officials to eliminate of significantly modify CAFE or 2) supporting fully GM putting a 4 cylinder in the Camaro so that there will in fact BE a Camaro.

We did this to ourselves. It's not GM's fault if and when it happens. Keep that in mind.

Here is a list of 3 really great cars:

BMW M3/4
Audi RS4/5
BMW AMG C63

What do they all have in common? A 4 cylinder model to start with and build upon.
