All last year I was running the weld RTS 20s. I sold them and decided I wanted a new look for the car..
I ordered a set of Rohana RC 22's.. I put 275 up front and am still running the 30535 20 mickeys out back..
now I have seen all the wheel and tire threads and I am always chiming in saying that the zl1 (esp auto) does not need a 17 or 18 iin wheel and tire to run a number.. and in most cases you will slow the car down..
the new wheel and tire setup proves my point.
this new setup is 80#s heavier than my welds overall and I figured with the new fronts being so wide the car would deff see a reduction in 60' and or trap and e.t... nope.. the car on a very very conservative tuneup (about 100 hp wheel less than at Bowling green for ls fest ) went a staggering
10.2 at 134 ON A NO PREP night at gateway over the weekend..
as you can see the 60 was a little weak compared to the cars usual but the track was literally unprepped and had been getting raped by moms minivans and front drive Hondas all night...
the best part is the car is turned way down because im getting ready to put a turbo on it.
this just shows that you don't need to ruin your cars handling or make change a bunch of suspension to get it to work...
I plan on turning the car back up to the same level as it was at BG last year and see if I can get the car to go 9s on what is basically the setup I plan on autocrossing it with..just a tire pressure change...
