It's a Vette, ie attainable supercar for the masses. An affordable competitor for things like baby Lambos and Ferraris. What do you propose it would be competing against at that power level? A Lamborghini Huracan starts at 200k and the most powerful one makes 630 hp. An Aventador starts at $399,500 and the most powerful one makes 740 hp. 800 in a Vette would literally make no sense.
