I don't quite understand this, could you elaborate? I think it's been confirmed that the next generation will come out as a 2016 model year car, so that means it comes out in the Fall of 2015. If they release information this time next year (Late December 2014) then that means they would be releasing the information 6-8 months before the usual release of 2016 model year cars?

You've got nothing to worry about in this regard. I guarantee you that at the time when you (and the rest of us) finally do see the 6th gen, it will still be possible for you to order a 5th gen. There's typically a window of at least 6 months when the new car has been revealed but they're still building the old car.
