No one really talked about it because everyone wants paddles. Take a look at the +/- on the shifter in the interior pics of an A8. I personally like using the shifter in manual mode in my 328i when making tight turns or pulling out of an intersection. Much easier than trying to pull the paddle when the wheel is turned sharply.
