I've been very frustrated with the inability of the new ZL1 M6 to launch effectively. The 4500 RPM idle RPM limit and mandated launch controls that pull power (timing) result in poor launches. I've so far been unable to get below 1.9 sec 60 ft times. I've only been able to do this on stock tires while allowing some wheel slip. If I hook right away the RPM is so low that there is not enough torque available (engine bog). If I get some wheel slip into higher than 2000 RPM I can make use of the torque when the wheels intermittently grab.

With the DR's I get zero or near zero wheel slip but not enough torque to get a decent 60 ft time. If I try feathering in the clutch the car nose dives. I had originally assumed this was due to insufficient launch RPM but it appears that the ECM is pulling power. Even after pulling the ABS fuses, completely disabling SC and TC, I get an immediate and persistent nose dive on launch regardless of the launch RPM. It takes at least 1 sec engine to recover which, of course, ruins the pass.

I thought that getting the DRs would improve my 60 ft and 1/4 mile times. Instead, they've been worse. It seems that GM has guaranteed my times will SUCK!

If I get to the track tonight I'll pull up the eLSD display so it's visible to my helmet-mounted GoPro during launch.

There may be errors in the eLSD calculations contributing to the loss of power but after reading this GM document it seems to me this "protection" mechanism is primarily at fault. After reviewing the footage it should be apparent whether it is a factor.

I never saw the DIC messages cited but I'm pretty sure this is the "fail-safe" mechanism by which GM controls launch power, resulting in the now familiar nose-dive on launch.
