Second, and only because it was mentioned, Cleaner Wax is not what any of us should be using unless we have bad paint/topcoat. For those us of that take good care of our paint, we may never actually need to use a cleaner wax, and paste waxes should be fine. Cleaner wax, as others have mentioned, contains an abrasive, and effectively cuts into your clear coat to 'clean' out imperfections in the surface.

Your fist coment I agree with cleaner wax had no place in this post, but some times as a post goes on you loss site of the OP.
Your second point I disagree unless you never touch your paint even with the best washing and drying practices there will be some damage, cleaner wax and polish will remove light damage and clean the paint giving a better finsh and better adhesion of LSP.
