They probably de-programmed all previous switchblade key fobs from the car.
OP: Go to
http://www.keylessentryremotefob.com and call their number as their website is kind of messed up at the moment. They can sell you a Camaro key fob with a blank key on it, then all you have to do is take it to a locksmith to get it cut. You can program it to the car yourself... there are several tutorials on google for this. I think they are about $70 on that website including the flash program which is required.
