Look at it this way. A 2011 CTS v6 is almost 4100lbs. That car is on the same chassis as the current 5th gen Camaro. If a ATS v6 is 3450 lbs then why can't a Camaro on the same Chassis be the same weight with the V8 model being around 150lbs more. GM really has a chance to move ahead of everyone in the same market if they build it on the ATS chassis. Now if they build it on the CTS chassis then it might not lose any weight.

I'm not sure that I totally follow you. The 2011 CTS was on Sigma II, which shared some parts with the Camaro's Zeta platform but was not identical. The 2014 CTS is on Alpha, and it did drop ~250 lbs (comparing comparably equipped 3.6L models).
