I didn't PPF the splitter, it's satin black and not too expensive so I consider it sacrificial. I'm not surprised it gets hit hard enough to go through PPF. I'd just remove the PPF after it gets to looking too haggard.
PPF will self heal if the car just sits in the sun, but you can use a heat gun. If there are holes/chips it's probably too much to self heal.
