First gear in our cars is somewhat long and peak torque out of the LS3 comes at 4600 RPM. So while this thing does have a great mid-range, it's bottom end isn't exactly Cummins-like. If you bog off the line, you're screwed.
When I'm auto-crossing I'm typically putting the tach between 2500 and 3-grand, slipping the clutch aggressively while pushing the throttle through the firewall, and am fighting wheel-spin all the way through first until I grab second at while point I'm usually at full lateral load and trying not to put orange marks on my paint.
