I for one like the gills...functional or not. ...

I for one like the gills...functional or not. Adds character to the car without going over the top.

1st gen had them, and I don't see anyone complaining about those.

That said, I doubt they...

I think this could be possible for the very base...

I think this could be possible for the very base 1SS (as we call it today)...but might be a stetch. I'd guess 3,700 lbs, give or take 50 ....so yes your on the low end of that lol.
