I did a lot of searches, but wasn't finding any specific. There was a gray plastic lock, but it wasn't coming out and I didn't want to bust it using a screwdriver.

I use a sun shade too. My detector is mounted to the rear view mirror with the wire tapped into it. My sun shade has a notch where the mirror is, so it goes on just fine and helps hide the mirror...
