It's fine to leave it in place - or if it bugs you, toss it in the glove box!
Just don't loose it, if you ever should want it.

There's a moderate amount of room under the fuse panel on the L/H side of the dash. Bit of a PITA to get to the mode switch though. I'll probably go velcro or something so I can still pull it out...
