Here's a strange one for ya

So I get off work. The car is backed up against a wall, so I decide to give it some revs to hear some exhaust sound. I'm in neutral, with the parking brake set. Rev it up to about 4500 rpm, and the release brake alarm goes off. Do it again, and my digital speedo runs up to 17 mph. I'm stopped, neutral, and brake on. No wheels turning. What's up with that?

Hmm.. sound gremlins :noidea: .. Strange. Maybe she is saying let's go and talking back to you! Sorry.. no help.

Happens to me too, if you put it in first and try to start rolling, it'll bounce back. Never bothered me too much though

Why did you put it in neutral? Just start it up and rev the motor there is no difference.

Doesn't really bother me either, just think it's strange. Car isn't moving, yet the speedo read 17mph (digital). Good to know I'm not the only one, just hoping that it's not a precursor to an oncoming problem.

I would not rev an engine that is not up to normal operating temperature.

Don't worry, I let her sit an idle for a little bit first. Lubrication and heat expansion is always taken into consideration.

Because he has a man pedal.

Moto-Mojo 09-28-2015 10:10 AM

These cars are so bad-ass that they not only look fast standing still, they're actually doing 17MPH. I think Einstein's general theory of relativity explained this. You are never really standing still, you're in an ever expanding universe. Still is only relative to the observer. That should clear it up!
