Have you received your recall letter?

Has anyone on Canada and or Alberta received their key recall letter? I have yet to receive mine...

Merc 08-04-2014 12:35 PM

Nope, haven't gotten mine. And just like Merc said....GM ain't getting my fobs. LOL

However, there seems to be a guy on here who posted about having an accident with hitting the key with his knee and the car shutting off. Now this is the first I heard of this incident actually happening, but here is the link:

I was surprised to see that as well. That's what prompted the question honestly. I like the FOB and my knee, like most people, is a mile away from the key. But, I don't think I'm THAT tied to the fob ;)

unless u sit with the seat so close to the dash I think this bump the key is all BS
I cant even get close

just my 2cents

Garoad Shenlong 08-05-2014 10:45 AM

I have been able to bump the key off with my knee if my seat all the way forward with the steering wheel all the way down. Now if I was actually driving like that and got into an accident, I'm pretty sure the airbag would kill me, which bumping the key might work in your advantage heh.

If you want to get it replaced you don't need to wait for the letter.

I havn't yet, but keep in mind people, if an accident happens God forbid, the insurance will be more than happy to blame it on you for not going in for the recall to try and get out of paying for your damage. I'm still waiting on my letter, but I will keep a fob probably anyway too.

Thats exactly what I said on FB...If you sign the letter stating you do not want the new key...well the insurance will probably not cover you.:frown:
It`s a SAFETY issue :rules:
I too haven`t gotten the letter yet...

Has the brooks dealership sent out any letters yet, assuming its the dealership, and not GM that does this?

Meltdownaverted 08-06-2014 05:54 PM

GM sends out the letters not the Dealership. If any vehicle is in for a service appointment we let them know any open recalls they have
