I have to agree with you on this one for sure! Before I start ranting I want to say my heart goes out for those in the Bahamas, that was total devastation.
On the other hand for the past week it's been reported nothing but life threatening conditions for Florida...mandatory evacuations, oh but Disney is staying in place.
The distance I live from the water is measured in yards... last evening the wife and I went in town so I could get some diesel fuel for our lawn mower. I was shocked to see gas stations already out of gas! Average price for regular gas is about $2.25 I saw one gas station jumped their prices to $2.62. The lines at the grocery stores was unbelievable and the cost of a small generator has soared.
News is reporting that Dorian "could, would, should" make landfall at our location as a possible cat 2 or even a cat 1 hurricane. Neighbors, nice of them to think of the old folks, came over last evening and wanted to give us "walkie talkies" so we could stay in touch!
From Maine we have lived here 7 years and do not have to go out and shop till we drop each time a storm approaches! We are prepared at all times. We have a full house generator with a 500 gallon tank filled with propane, automatic hurricane shutters for the windows (press a button and they are down), 10 cases of drinking water and enough food for minimum 2 months but most likely 3. Now that I sold the Impala the wife can even put her car in the garage along side "MY" Camaro.
It's comical to watch the reports as they give us the latest updates on the approaching storm... they have to stand in water while leaning forward as if the winds are going to take them away... if it's that bad numb nuts get inside! Gotta love it.
At least this give me something to do while I have my first cup of coffee for the day. God bless you all, stay safe and be kind to one another.
