GM working on new mill for 6th Gen 2016 Camaro?

GM Developing Just One Twin-Turbocharged V6, The 3.6L

by Manoli Katakis - Apr 6th, 2012 GM Authority.com

Rumor has it that General Motors has been tirelessly working on a pair of new twin-turbocharged V6 engines to bring about a new age of fuel economy and performance to its vehicles. As the stories go, the V6 engines are a familiar 3.0L and 3.6L in size. We’re here to report that this story is only half true. Fortunately, it’s the better half.

Rest of story at link.

Furture ATS-V? 6 Gen Camaro? Discuss.

The v6 market is huge giving us a twin turbo option or turbo option on the 6th gen might be a good thing to do, I doubt that a v8 will be removed though but who knows maybe a turbo v6 from the factory would be another good submodel?

What no more 8's?

There will be a V8 still, no way they get rid of it. It will be interesting what the model designation is of a twin turbo V6 Camaro though. Surely they won't use Z/28 or SS.

I think if the next gen is smaller and lighter the TTV6 could be a base engine, w/ the V8 option always available. Of course it's all speculation at this point, I don't mean to suggest there will be no more V8.

Chevy is more likely to release DOHC V8s with DI before they stick V6 only options in the Vette and the Camaro. FI'd V6 are great options to have though.

The base engine is going to be a turbo I4 I would guess. The ATS is getting a I4, the Camaro on the same platform will as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens. If the TT V6 is good enough for an ATS-V, I suppose it would then have enough power for an SS or Z/28. I just can't see an SS or Z/28 with anything but a V8, though.

This is yet another reason why I am either going to buy a 2014 1LE or a 2015 6th gen. See what the 6th gen looks like and what the options, etc., for it are, and then decide which to buy.

IIRC Chevy was sued and had to pay royalties to use the name from the gun manufacturer.

That was a good looking little car in its day. No wonder it disappered so fast.
