Zl1 steering locking up on hard turns?

I'm at a track day and I had the steering wheel lock up for a second during mid corner. It's basically trying to straighten the wheel. Anyone else have anything like this happen? My day may be over.

It does good until around the 8 minute mark. I notice it for the first time on that run, then it gets progressively worse, I start calling out right after it happens. You can see the steering angles and the g forces take quick dips.

Dealer said they found a loose wire connector in the steering after reading a bulletin on it. I'm kind of wondering why they couldn't check for that a week earlier when I had it in for an oil change. I would think this should be a mandatory check for a known issue that could cause an accident.

Problem solved

I had this happen to me. I would be turning the wheel and it would try to straighten out it felt like. I took it in and they said there was a loose connection on the electric power steering connector.

I saw that this was a bulletin that chevy has. It should be more of a recall or mandatory check being that it could cause an accident, but what do I know, I'm just an engineer that works on safety systems.

Still not fixed

I brought it into the dealership after the first track day and they told me a connector was loose and fixed it. Well, the only way to find out if the steering is fixed is to take it back out on the track. And it's still giving me issues, here's my 2nd time out on the track. Car does good until the tires start reading from Normal to Warm in temp. Right around the 5:25 mark.

That sounds very scary. Good that nothing happened to you. I guess that hydraulic steering wheel systems were more dependable and trusted :noidea:

thats really disturbing! and would make me lose confidence for awhile even if fixed hope they figure it out asap

Crazy how you called it coming in this video, seeing that it happens after tire temps change to warm. Hmmm. Try it in race PTM mode, when more of the nannies are off.

Just had this happen to me today, so just tell the dealer to look
For a loose connector on steering wheel ? :/

Did this ever get resolved? Working ok after the connector repair?

MODS:

Is there anyway to consolidate all the video's ZL1 Steering problems for ease of tracking and resolution?

Thank You
