No 7 speed or AFM for manual camaros?

Not that I want these things. In fact I'm happy that my m6 doesn't have AFM, but I'm curious. Why doesn't the Manual trans Camaro have afm? The manual vettes have it. Also why didn't the Camaro get tremec TR6070 (7 speed) like the vette? Just wondering :iono: :pop2:

M7 Vette only uses AFM in eco mode, Camaro has no eco mode, IMHO

The hardware is already there, but more challenging to tune on the manual. IF enabling/optimizing AFM helped improve fuel economy significantly, I think they would have done it. It's possible they will enable it in a later model to help improve FE.

Also, the Camaro is quite a bit heavier than the Corvette, so not sure the ultra deep 0.42:1 7th ratio would work well. The 0.5:1 6th gear is already a huge overdrive.

Glad it doesn't have the 7 speed. It has very narrow gates, most of the C7 guys on CF would rather the 6 speed...different story if the 7 speed had better ratios, but it doesn't.

Think if I am not mistaken the 7 speed with not physically fit in the Camaro/Alpha platform.

Absolutely true........

Like mentioned, no 7 speed as it doesn't psychically fit the platform. As for no AFM on manual, tuning of it was having issues and was just scrapped (since it avoids the GG tax, no biggie).

The M6 LT1 has no AFM lifters so no issues with these down the road. This was confirmed by Livernois.

Interesting. I was under the impression that the m6 lt1 has all the afm hardware just not the software. Good to know

Humm, first I have heard of this. IF true, good news...I would like to see it for myself to know for sure though. Odd that it hasn't come up before?

I was also under that impression. That is good for those that didn't like the idea of the idle AFM stuff in their cars.

Pretty sure that is false.

Well talk to Livernois- they have had these engines apart and said the M6 has the regular lifters..... Regular lifters are cheaper than AFM lifters.

He didn't really post any details or pics but they might be the only ones who have opened up a M6 car. It definitely goes against everything we have been told for over a year. Even Al O. was quoted as saying the hardware was there. Wonder if meant other AFM hardware.
