This is a good point. It would make sense to built out the 5th gen in Oshawa then start fresh in Lansing. Good point.

My points were just speculating on what GM has done in the past. Maybe they will break the mold this time around. :iono:

I would think so, based on how competitive the market is and how quickly it moves.

No, I said the 6th gen Z will not hold a candle to the 5th gen Z as it will undoubtably be much more affordable. I did however say if they made a 50th Annaversary Z/28, I wouldnt be surprised if that was a limited prod car meaning many wont be sold IF the car can hang with a 5th gen Z.

The ZL-1? I dont believe it'll be produced as the ZL-1 was only produced in 1969 and moving to another gen, I see them going with history and eliminating it from production.

Then why is the ZL1 still in production now? It's been more than 1 year and I'm pretty sure they built more than 69 of them.

After 100 years, I guess I can wait three more, to trade for a 6th Generation...

Well, i am looking forward to a 50th anniversary edition. My 5th Gen will be paid off before then. I think it will be a nice addition to my collection. Be cool to take it to a car show and park it next to my 67. Wish i still had my 87 Iroc in my collection.

Because it's in the same generation and theyre trying to capitalize on it?:noidea: And yes, they built more than 69. This is 2013, not 1969. You cant even put this ZL-1 in comparison to that made in 1969. Its not even in the same realm as that of yester year besides sharing the same name. If they wanted to pay homage to the '69, theyd have built an 11.5 second NA Camaro weighing in at around 3900lbs to STAY as king of the strip in a street legal drag car. Isn't 11.5 seconds the fastest production car able ot street/strip WITHOUT a roll cage according to NHRA standards? And the Ford GT500 gets what? 11.6?

They may make it in 6th gen, but my question would be why? You're going to do a total make over on a different platform. I never saw any 2nd gen ZL-1s. Not to mention, they dropped the 427 from the production line. What engine will they install in a 6th gen ZL-1? An LT1 supercharged engine? Shouldnt the 6th gen ZL-1 have a stand alone engine? Im going to assume that the LT1 is going to be the major engine in the 6th gen as there is no other vette engine in production as of yet. IF they make a 6th gen ZL-1, then it'll be somewhat that of a ZR-1 supercharged LT1. Namely an LT5???

So if it has little in common with the 1st gen car, why limit it?

GM should keep building the ZL1 so it has a competitor to the GT500.

I know I have said this multiple times but do you honestly think the LT1 is the only gen 5 small block GM will develop? There will be more coming in the near future. They still have to develop one for the Z06 and one for the ZR1.

The ZL1 doesn't get a stand alone engine now, so why would it in the 6th gen? It will probably share one with the CTS-V like it does now.

It'ok HAVE to be a gen V engine. And you're right! It doesn't have to be like it was in '69 because the only car paying homage is the Z/28 and then that's half true since the LS7 should've been for the ZL-1. But whatever they do. It's just a camaro. Modern muscle. I'm anxious to see what they look like regardless of what options they'll have.

order a 2014 Special Spring Edition or wait for the 50th Anniversary Edition? I don't know what to do! :frown:

Camaro_krazee 03-28-2014 04:29 PM

Well, I went ahead and ordered a 2014 Special Spring Edition 2SS RS 6m. :thumb:
I was just afraid the 50th Anniv Edition might not be what I was hoping for. SOOOOOOOOO...........Spring Edition for me which will knock me out of the market for the 50th Anniv edition. :confused0068:
