6 gen paint colors

I'm thinking GM should ditch all current colors and create all new colors, yes including a new black! discussion or thoughts?

2SSRS@Gen5diy 01-26-2014 08:07 AM

Well, one do not have to ( fix perfect)
Nothing is perfect to begin with , it may looked perfect 40 years ago , but now , with all the new technology and know how available to experiment all kinds a things on the paint manufacturing , it's possible to come up with the craziest colors , even the colorless black can be improved

2SSRS@Gen5diy 01-26-2014 08:55 AM

will see.

A dark green maybe?

shibbs 01-26-2014 09:22 AM

GM should have (but not limited to)

Pearl (very pearl) white
Bright, bright electric blue
Metallic black
Bring back a super bright green - ala Synergy
A metallic orange - less red than IOM
Dark blue pearl, similar to Night Race Blue
A yellow similar to millennium yellow back on the 00s Vettes
Grey has been popular lately, so put in a nice deep grey as well.

And then the standard barrage of non-metallic/pearl colors: White, Red, Black.

chozn4service 01-26-2014 10:02 AM

The MBP Midnight Blackhawk Pearl Honda has is really nice. It's back with a blue metal flake in it. The only thing I wish is that the flake was a little more noticeable but otherwise it's killa! To see the car from distant or even close up within a few feet it looks black but when the sun hits it right or you're really close you see a pearl blue hue to it. Really looks great! The other color that would look nice is an Ice Blue or blue steel as we use to call it back in the day. Also an opaque or powder blue would look good, no flake just a simple plain blue.

dorfmac 01-26-2014 10:31 AM

Would like to see a metallic black, pearl white (like on the Z28 at C5Fest), and a blue like the one linked below.

kjkjr27 01-26-2014 10:33 AM

Should bring back Hugger Orange :headbang:

BDBiker 01-26-2014 11:30 AM

X2 on the Metallic Black.

That blue is beautiful!

OperativeXIV 01-26-2014 01:42 PM

I saw a White Diamond Tricoat impala at the dealership that I'd love as an option, it had a nice pearlescent finish that reminded me quite a bt of the pictures I've seen of the Z/28.

I also really like the "Tiger Shark Grey" (name pending...) on the 2015 Corvettes.

Yes, please.

The Lime Rock Green of the Corvette looks fantastic.

ssrs2lt 01-26-2014 04:04 PM

so im not alone,.I didn't know about the black, but I agree with green, pearl white. I walked around a dealership I swear the equiknox or whatever had a wider paint selection

camaro2lt 01-26-2014 09:25 PM

A dark green would be nice....I would love a light blue like the c7 has

AG1LE 01-26-2014 09:27 PM

I say keep Red Rock Metallic

ss/rs/378 01-27-2014 08:06 PM

I would say a real hugger orange would be cool and retro not that inferno orange!!!!!!!!

FenwickHockey65 01-27-2014 08:10 PM

Really can't say what exterior paint colors will look good without seeing the design first.

Mikes SS 01-27-2014 08:15 PM

Definitely a dark green metallic!!!

OldScoolCamaro 01-27-2014 08:16 PM

..well, the new Vette has Lime Rock green...kinda retro lookin'...just sayin'

Q'smuscle 01-27-2014 08:24 PM

Powder blue! Medium brown! I would love to see a grey like the one that is on the new scion tc's .Kinda like a flat grey. Bumblebee yellow! light/ medium purple!

trackguy 01-27-2014 08:30 PM

White works for me, and I'd like something whiter than the current Summit White. Maybe Arctic White or something close to it.

...agreed, Caddy has some frosted white color.....plain Jane bubble gum flavored white does not cut it anymore.

...actually Lime Rock green is somewhat similar to that, but it has varying shades of metal flake in it....as to what todays normal paint schemes have. However.. if you see it in person, it will take you back there to a degree <it's a bit darker>....

The GREEN touring Camaro Convertible seen above was at C5fest. I tried to buy this car on the spot at C5fest. They wouldn't put a price on it and keep saying it was built for SEMA.:gossip:

...agreed, I saw it on a Z/51 2014 Vette with carbon fiber package...and it was really, really hot looking. Took me back many decades...

Silverlsinva 01-27-2014 11:52 PM

Im with Fen Ill wait to see a concept or at least a design of it before I think of colors for cause some cars look better with different colors. But since its not here yet I will agree a pearl white and a metallic black and a dark green would be great options for color choice at a higher cost of course.

OldScoolCamaro 01-28-2014 08:00 PM

...what suits me best is going to the dealership every couple of weeks or so and seeing the colors in person. One can wrap their hands around the issue much better.

KMPrenger 01-28-2014 10:22 PM

Put something out there very similar to the metallic Kinetic Blue on the Hot Wheels Camaro and they will get my attention.

OldScoolCamaro 01-28-2014 10:31 PM

....blue is not a historic seller, around 6 percent of the market share as I recall. They won't do it...but I loved that color myself personally.

fixxer56 01-29-2014 06:29 AM

I'd like Pearl white and lime rock green as well. But aren't they moving the production to a new plant? I'm thinking they will limit color selections similar to whatever other vehicles are produced there as they did back in 2009.

...agreed, that color rocks, and the kicker is the blue flame varying shade decal on the quarter panel that blends in with the paint scheme and is almost undetectible. They <GM, or an after market supplier> should offer those one off shade of body color flame QP decal packages for the aftermarket.

PYROLYSIS 01-29-2014 07:23 PM

Lets just hope we get 10 colors to choose from. We're down to 9 now and we started with 10.

Black
Summit White
Silver (preferably the one shown on the C7 ZO6)
Red Hot
Hugger Orange
Lime Rock Green
Laguna Blue
Bright Yellow
Ashen Gray
Crystal Red Tintcoat

OldScoolCamaro 01-29-2014 07:59 PM

...the picking and choosing of one off paint shemes confounds me. They come and go.

BrunSS 01-29-2014 08:06 PM

I would with a shiny Blue

ssrs2lt 01-29-2014 09:01 PM

great color information! we need more not less

RandyT 01-30-2014 05:56 PM
