Great vid thanks for the post!

Here's a pretty fresh hard break in thread, including a mention or two of the man himself Hennessy, to save everyone some typing!!

ZL1 Top Speed

I know many of us will likely never push our cars to the absolute limit and especially their top speeds, but it was a little disappointinging to see such a low top speed for the Manual. My 5th gen A6 ZL1 would hit that speed easily as I have actually done it once and there was still more power on tap.

I am wondering if that 173 top speed had more to do with the car not being properly broken in? I am hopeful that the A10 can get into the mid 190s. I will take it to the Salt Flats to try it at least once so I'm looking forward to it. We know the A10 will at least hit 181 (on an incline at that)

I wonder how the CTS-V which is heavier, has less power and appears less aerodynamic has a higher, 200 mph top speed?

I think the m6 and the A10 will get to the 190's.

Less down force / drag?? I want my car to stick to the track at all speeds.

I think he let off in that video. Something weird happened on his shift between 5&6 but I'm not convinced it was a speed limiter.

The A10 car in Chevy's Nurburgring video reached 181mph on the long straight and the engine was turning 5,493 rpms at that time - not sure what gear it was in. I suspect the A10 will reach a top speed in the 190's and the M6 may be lower due to gearing differences between the two.

Likely this.

If you listen to the commentary during the Hennessey run, John Hennessey says that the top speed in the ZL1 seems to be in 5th gear. I am assuming going into 6th doesn't provide the acceleration needed to get above 173MPH easily. The ZL1 definately seems like it has shorter M6 gearing than the SS. With the A10, you have a lot more gearing to play with.

Are u talking about the hennessey video? 173 is not a top speed. He only took to 5th gear. There is one more gear(6) that he did not use.
Jeez, sometimes I feel like this is a Toyota prius forum for women.

I really doubt that the 6th does not provide. I think that John is an idiot.

At the very top of 5th gear at 173 mph he said the car would not go any faster and was at the rev limiter. He briefly went to 6th gear and the rpms dropped dramatically. That is what I saw. The car reaches its top speed in 5th gear.

That's a weak comment for someone with three posts. The commentary of the video eludes to a 170 range top speed.

I guess you didn't actually watch and listen to the video. Who's the chick now? No offense ladies.
