How Much Does a 1SS Manual Weigh, You Ask...

JDP Motorsports put our Development Vehicle on the scales and we are happy to report, the claims of weight loss are not at all over-stated. Check it out!!

We weighed in at just 3589 lbs with 1/8 tank of fuel and LG ZL1 replicas, wrapped in GY F1's in 285/35/20 up front and 305/35/20 in the rear. We weighed the wheels and tires against the OE wheel/tire set-up and our difference was 14 lbs (largely due to the addition of a LOT more rubber) making the OE set-up a dainty (when compared to the 5th Gen) 3575 lbs. You may have noticed in the photos but the car has nearly perfect weight cross-balance. 49.9%!! More power, less weight and great balance. No wonder these cars are such performers, right out of the box! Nicely done GM! Nicely done!!

We are in the process of testing and development on the 6th Gen at present and we will have more and more products and packages available in the very near future. Stay Tuned!!

Please call, email or PM us anytime. One of our experts would love to speak with you about your goals and/or questions!

All the best,

Great to know. Thank you for sharing the info, Jared. Does the car has NPP and/or MRC in it? Just asking because that is what I got

Our pleasure! :happy0180: It does have NPP but no MRC. We meddle too much with our suspension set-ups to be tied to the MRC, though we do LOVE the technology and its execution.

That thing is tiny! Thanks for the info! I wonder how much of a difference the 2ss is equipped with the m6 and NPP as well. Shouldn't be to much more, maybe 100lbs or so?

Thanks so much for performing this analysis and posting the results! Glad to see the weight issue put to rest. Chevy not only lived up to their claims on weight, they exceeded them!

BTW, how much more does the automatic weigh over an identically equiped manual? Just curious, if anyone knows.

Can you get a 2SS on the scales soon? Curious to see if the cross corner weight is similar.

Also, isn't it better to fill a tank and then weigh it instead of guessing how much gas is left? Since we know it has an X gallon tank, and it's 6lbs per gallon, it takes out the guess work of 1/8 gallon vs 1/7 or 1/9 gallon (unless you emptied the tank and then put in X gallons), which changes the weight of the car (and balance). Or... is there a screen which says how many gallons remain? If so, that's cool. What's that number?

:)

I'd LOVE to weigh a 2SS. My car will be here in Feb-Mar but it's a 1SS Auto so we'll be able to answer the Auto question but we'll need a customer car to answer the 2SS weight query.

A gallon of fuel weighs about 6 lbs so we are real close to 100 lbs heavier with a full tank.

Man, you guys are analytical  I like it!

Nice, glad to see these things did actually loose weight...I figure with a full tank this 1SS should be around 3650...not bad.

So tell us do you like how it drives?

Do you have any harsh roads?

Jared, would you know how much extra weight will the MRC add to the car by any chance?

BigEnos 01-15-2016 01:56 PM

Thanks for the data point. It's appreciated.
