Hey gang! Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I'm back to work for four days this week. That's better than five days. ;)

This was rather special Christmas. On Thursday, December 22, my wife had scheduled surgery to remove a malfunctioning parathyroid gland. We have four in our neck. Anyway, as we were getting ready that morning, I received a text from buddy telling me to call him. I'm not a morning person, but I did call him.

His daughter has been on the kidney transplant list or 3+ years, and earlier that morning, they received a call a kidney was available. After discussing certain criteria, they decided to accept it and said he would see us at Mayo later that day.

While Claire's was in surgery, I found my buddy and his family in admitting. I sat with them for a while and assured them everything will check out OK ( the kidney and his daughter). It was Christmas, and there would be only one outcome in this. They were called to go upstairs, so I ate breakfast. Afterwards, I headed back up to the 2nd floor waiting area and, waited......

Meanwhile, my buddy and his wife walked into the waiting area. They said the kidney checked out OK and so did their daughter, and the transplant had begun. It would be about a 2-3 hour operation. AFter chatting for a while, my wife's surgery was completed, so I met with the surgeon, then visited Claire in recovery for a short while. I was then asked to return to the waiting area, so with some time on our hands, we went downstairs for lunch.

After finishing lunch, I got the call my wife was in her room, so we all headed back up to the seventh floor and hung out with her. Shortly after, they got the call their daughter's transplant was completed, in only 1.5 hours!

My wife's surgery was a success and my buddy's daughter is doing well too. I would say this was a pretty cool Christmas!

Later that day, while sitting with my wife, she told me to go home and work on my car, as she wanted to get some rest.

I'm 95% done.

 The X-mas card is nice. But the slay being in the air with only 8 Reindeer is all wrong. Suppose to be single one in the front. [Rudolph]:noidea::grouphug:
