Dealer was first driver

When I bought my "brand new" zl1, it had 36 miles on it. I thought it might have been one of those random cars taken off the line at the builder and test driven to make sure everything was going ok. Well, I just found out what really happened. We went to the dealer, for another issue, and spoke to the head man there. He just calmly stated that this zl1 was the first he had seen when it came into his dealership, and he couldn't resist...he ran the hell out of it to feel the performance. What do you all think of this?

Why do so many dealers have to suck the way they do? So many sleazies...I had one tell me they had an allocation when they didn't, I canceled my order with them, went to a second dealer, and I can tell you that the ONLY reason I am dealing with them is because they DO have an allocation, but I hated giving them my business. I will never buy another car from them again.

I think what that guy did was beyond wrong. I'd be furious. I'm sure you are.

Tysen 12-04-2012 06:51 AM

I'd hound him for a free extension on my warranty. That's BS.

elainehod 12-04-2012 06:54 AM

Yes, I am

Furious? Not even close! I almost feel my baby was violated or something!

Not almost...it was. By someone who had no right to do what he did.

I would have kicked his @$$

BS on dealers part.....Along with this ^^ Ask for the oil changes, I would also report it to GM, he did not break it in correctly and may cause wear issues (per the manual) down the road!

elainehod 12-04-2012 07:40 AM

How do I report this?

i wanted to do something...but I thought the dealer was technically the original owner, and could do as he wanted. What do I say to GM?

All hear say . . . enjoy the car and move on. It is fully under warranty.

Happy_Dan 12-04-2012 07:59 AM

Didn't you notice the mileage when you picked it up? Did you confront him then? I think there is something that says a car is still "new" until it gets 100 miles on it.

They could give test drives that would equal to 36 miles easily to potential buyers.
I am not saying what the dealer did was right but I don't think it's that big of a deal as long as he stayed in breakin procedures (which you indicate he may not have). I would ask for extended warranty on the house myself.

Im sure in your sales contract you indemnified him and dealership for being a jackass and tons more. ZL1s are built to take it. Your baby will be okay.

Driven too fast

The dealer bragged how beautifully it handled around sharp curves at high speed and how smooth and exhilarating it felt at 120 mph on the highway! Too bad he didn't get a ticket!
