Another low trade-in offer

Well, my local dealer (where I originally purchased my SS 1LE) just got a mosaic black ZL1 1LE. I figured it's the very end of the year, why not try to see what I can get out of it....
$28.5k trade-in for my pristine 3750 miles 1LE and $69k for the black ZL1 1LE. While the price of ZL1 1LE is pretty good, I was surprised by the trade-in. I figured I would get $32k, the sales manager would treat me better since I bought a $45k car from him 6 months ago..."met my sales numbers for the year already". Oh well!

Ridiculous. Even carmax might give you more.

I felt self-guilt only holding on to my 2014 Camaro for three years. I can't imagine only keeping a car for 6 months.

I just got 32k with 4k miles yesterday. Paid 70k for zl1 1le

You need to go to the dealer with a fair number you believe your car is worth and be aggressive about it. If they want to make a deal they will work with you. If not, move on to another dealer and try again.
I have usually been successful with this approach. If they do give the number you want for your trade be careful they don't try and screw you on the new car price as well.
If you just randomly walk in and say "appraise my car", they will likely low ball you as much as possible.

Oh, I agree with all of the above posts. I wasn't trying to haggle with him at all. It was a "chance" thing, I really don't need a ZL1 1LE but can afford it. Plus wanted to see where the sales manager stood in terms of repeat customers. I fully understand that I walked in and showed him my cards, but now will think twice before I consider purchasing anything there again (if ever at all).

I would never do business with anyone who told me, "met my sales numbers for the year already". Find another dealer. There's quite a few ZL1 1LE's listed for under $70k on Autotrader. I've traveled 2,000 miles (one way) to get a better deal.

Tell the sales manager you'll buy on Monday.

Lets just say those are bait and switch offers...

Damn these cars are dropping in value. Im starting to think that buying any new car these days is a bad idea. They seem to depreciate a lot more in the first year than ever before.

I got 33k plus 3k loyalty plus tax credit and I paid 39k new keep fighting !

This!

The auto industry is in a bad place, and getting worse. It is a Buyer's market for sure!

I would not pay more than $33K for a used 1LE at this point, and I am pretty sure I could find a few at that price.

A dealer starting at $28K for trade, sounds like a fair starting point to me. Don't buy new if you don't plan on keeping the car long term.
