Change brake caliper color
What do you guys think is best, paint the calipers or use the MGP caliper covers. I want to change the color to something else.

Caliper covers never look right. Paint them.

Anyone with experience using the MGP covers or have pictures?

I’ve had covers and you don’t want to do that. They hold a lot of dirt, and heat, so they’re not good for the brakes long-term , they discolor after a time and in general they just don’t look good ad most true car guys will diss them. In person they look cheap. It’s very easy to paint these , there are many people here that have , and there’s all sorts of how to learn how to do you want G2 caliper paint for brush and duplicator caliper in spray paint.

Thanks for the info.

I did the G2 route. It was pretty easy, just don't use the supplier crap brush. Cheap disposable from the local big box store, use plenty of masking. There is more then enough of the paint in a can to do a full set with 3 coats. I bought my Brembo stickers off of amazon. Looks the same one year later.

Brembos: Paint or powdercoat.
Single piston: I threw caliper covers on them. |

An easier route might be doing the same, but with good caliper spray paint, but you'll want to tape off and cover a LOT more. |
Paint or powdercoat them.:thumb:

Rustoleum caliper paint off the shelves at the car stores is my preferred choice. I've tried them all. Much cheaper than G2 also.

VHT Brake Caliper Paint is magical. We put a lightly used set of CTS-V brakes on the 2014 SS 1LE. They were already red...but both - over the winter - broke seals around the pistons and seized one of the bleeders, so I opted to replace the whole deal rather than go through the trouble and cost of rebuilding in the middle of winter. The new CTS-V calipers were silver.
In the spring - we removed the new calipers, cleaned, prepped, painted, and baked them - and used eBay stickers to match the OE design in the rear...These brakes have seen two track days since, and have not discolored in the least!! I was super hesitant about discoloration, and longevity - I'm so impressed! Attachment 906868 Attachment 906869 Attachment 906870 |
For painting calipers, do most people just paint them on the car with masking, or remove them from the car?

Caliper
Wow! The paint with the stickers look great. Do the stickers hold up to the heat on the caliper?
