You could have mirrors the size of a tailgate and it might help. The 5th gen has poor visibility. The A pillars are as big as a telephone pole and when you change lanes you hope there isn't a motorcycle to your right. I love my 5th gen and have gotten used to it but the only thing with worse blind spots is a panel van.

...that was a big concern with me, as I owned a 4th Gen 2002 35th Anniversary SS, and the composite hatch was a detraction for me. That design has been around since the advent of the 3rd Gen if I recall correctly. I love a real decklid...

....the side view mirrors are good I agree, set them up for wide angle visibility and your outside rearward vision will be fine.

I like how both windows go down. The body Reminds of porsche a lil.
