Gen 6 Npp exhaust problem

Hey everyone I got a new 2017 SS camaro with the dual exhaust npp, this might be a newb question so apologizing at the start lol. I tried searching in many places and even people that have it but I am the only one I see that is having a problem with it. The exhaust has 4 tips but for some reason it is only blowing out the two outside tips and wondering why it would be doing this. The exhaust looks really bad having the two outsides blackened while the inside two are brand new and shiny. So my question is why is this happening?

Normal. When the NPP is in track or sport mode it opens access to the outside tips which effectively bypasses the muffler so most exhaust will be routed through them.

Adding a visual to Eric's description. I had a similar question when I first noticed this. The picture made it pretty easy to see how it works.

Man, that lets you see just how chocked down the system is. When the plate closes all the exhaust is bled off thru those holes just inside the muffler on the inlet pipe and then bleeds over into the center chamber to route out thru the 2 inner exhaust tips.

Mine stays black all the time. I pulled the fuse and set it in Track mode. I like it better this way!

So what you guys are saying pretty much is that's suppose to happen and to fix it run it in touring mode to get the inside tips to burn so it doesn't look like I have a fake 4 tip exhaust ?

No, no matter what the outside tips will always be black compared the inside tips. Most of the time the valve is open and most of the exhaust flow is running thru the outer tips.

Normal, it starts up with valves open and they close. Open with more throttle....

That's all normal for NPP exhausts in Sport and/or Track mode. Enjoy :)

I keep a rag in my trunk and wipe them out once a week or so. No big deal.

There are many great exhaust setups to choose from.

Since you already have the NPP, I would recommend getting a system that keeps that functionality. I'm glad I did. Your sound levels will definitely increase with a new system and you may want to have the ability to quiet it down from time to time.

The best thing to do is start searching for exhaust videos on youtube and just start listening. Every company that makes exhaust kits have their own distinct sound.

Here are the most popular brands to name few:

Borla
Corsa
Stainless Works
Magnaflow
Hooker
Flowmaster
Afe Power
