First time ever at the dragstrip!
I went to a a local drag stip today and raced for the first time! :happyanim:What a blast! I went many years ago in my really slow 1995 ext. cab truck just to see what it was like.
Well here is my best time. looks like my mph is high but had a hard time launching. This is also my first manual car ever to own. For any of you experts out there, whats your take on these times? 60ft etc. R/T: .699 60: 2.280 330: 5.939 1/8: 8.808 MPH: 86.27 1000: 11.239 1/4: 13.264 MPH: 113.55 |

What are your mods? |
Man, you get that 60ft time under 2 sec. and you will have yourself nicely in the 12's. Are you stock?
|
hes trapping over 113, so no hes not stock
|
113...nice trap speed. Obviously need to get that traction issue addressed. What have you done to it to get a 113 trap speed?
|
I wouldnt sweat those 60 foot times too much if you are running stock tires/gear/rear suspension.
A set of sticky tires alone will get you in the 12's |
Your 60 foot times are slow... you need more traction... another indicator is the 113mph trap speed and the 13.20 ET. 113mph is showing you have enough power to run deep in the 12's.
Also, your reaction time is sloooooooooooow. :) Leave on the last yellow if you're running a sportsman tree... Here's a tip... Lower your sun visor so you have to nod down to see the staging bulbs... then after you stage, move your head up until you can just see the last yellow (will take a few times practicing) then when you see the last yella', drop the hammer! Not bad for your first time!
I have a 2LT and my 60ft was horrible. Basically I ran a 14.8 at ~93-94, it was my first time, anyways what's a tip for getting a better 60ft? Traction isn't really an issue in the V6's imo. When I raced I didn't have it in sport (i have an automatic) and I had traction control on, not sure how much of a difference that makes.. |
I ran my best at 13.17 by reving to about 2500 rpms and slowly letting off the clutch while pressing on the gas on the last yellow light. You know you got a good launch if you get thrown back in your seat when you go and not spinning tires, sliding around. This was with a M6 SS.
On another note, I hear letting your stock tire pressure go down to about 25 psi helps with launches. I've yet to try it though |
 WOW! thanks guys.. looks like I may have a quick car if i can get that 60 foot down! All I have done is to the car is a muffler delete. Good tip launching as soon as i see last yellow. I ran about 28 psi in the tires, wasn't sure how low i could go safely. Whats the lowest R/T iI should aim for without a redlight? Some guys I ran against had like a .05. There was 1 guy there with a 10 sec procharged '10SS. He said I really needed to get some drag radials to hook up.

Also the outside temp was about 65F so I'm assuming I may run even quicker with some cooler air... If I can get traction that is. |
Nice numbers!
|
Yes,sticky tires or you are just playing around and will be inconsistent in both your 60foot times and ETs.
It's a catch 22 though, get traction issues resolved and you could break an axle shaft on these cars. |
Nice run. Your trap speed seems very high.
