Bad collision repair! HELP!
My 2013 SS was rear ended and had repairs done. The work initially appeared to be flawless. Within a week, I noticed paint rubbed off the interior of the trunk and rear bumper as well as on the bumper just below the bottom outer corners of the trunk (which should NEVER come into contact so all I could imagine is that when driving, the bumper was moving). Took it back to the body shop and they gave me a bunch of bull about the bumper not being adjustable and it must always have been rubbing there, which is laughable. I keep every inch of it pristine including the motor. There was NEVER an issue with the fit of the trunk. Despite all their suppositions, they agreed to repair it a second time. I went to pick it up and it looked hideous. They clearly tried to spot paint and made a mess of it. And they HAD adjusted the bumper height so there was at least a quarter inch gap between the rubber seal on the trunk and the bumper itself! And this time, they had the gall to try and blame it on the after market rear valance which has been on the car since the miles were in the hundreds (it now has about 43,000). I'm female, so of course know nothing about my own car...
So, I'm awaiting their call to pick it up and wonder if anyone can give me advice on what to look for to ensure the bumper is properly placed and secure. I'm aware there are multiple clips, including around the wheel well. But, I don't work on cars for a living. Other than maintaining it and changing oil, I'm clueless.
I'm anticipating that they will remove it and paint the entire piece, based on the fact that I was clearly irate, but again, I'm concerned they may have screwed something up in the removal/attachment. And I intend to take a flashlight, crawl under the car and check every possibility.
I want to keep this car til I'm an old lady, and have been considering storing it for a while, but I want to make sure they haven't screwed something up. I hate to even consider selling based on this. I imagine I wouldn't get what it's worth with all the upgrades I have in it.
Sorry for the rant and long-winded thread. ANY advice would be so appreciated! Thank you, in advance!
