New Ford GT?

I'll believe it when I see it, same as the mid engine Corvette.

Love it!

Looks pretty good. I wonder if Ford would go that exotic with that design.

derklug 10-03-2014 12:55 AM

If Ford is going to do it, it also has to be a class winner like before. Losing LeMans would be no bueno. I would love to see it, but I don't think it will be in a price range that would let me buy one.

I guess ford couldn't come up with anything new

Well looks like they need something to work with at for so they are bringing back the ford gt. Not knocking it though. Would be cool to see it become a staple car in the line up. After all it is the one of arguably three cool cars they have ever produced.

Just like the Vette, the GT-40 name will always be around. Both are legends.

gotta have something to compete w/ the mid engine vette.:clap2:

DivineStrike 10-03-2014 08:16 AM

Lol, I wouldn't say reinventing the wheel would be necessary in this case :) While I wouldn't necessarily say the Vette and GT are in different leagues of each other in potential performance. The GT is just marketed differently and obviously a different drivetrain set-up.

I agree I kinda would like to see Ford have a traditional competitor in the same class as the corvette. Something similar in price as well, since the GT is normally way up there in super car territory.

The_Blur 10-03-2014 08:27 AM

I respect that decision. Hopefully, Ford can build one that makes sense in terms of price. American performance manufacturers have never valued luxury as much as performance, and traditionally have demonstrated this in terms of price.

Why come up with something new? The Ford GT was awesome. I think it was a mistake to stop production in the first place. Great niche vehicle... priced way to high though because of that. If they can get price right this time around it would be awesome to see another American supercar back.

KMPrenger 10-03-2014 08:47 AM

I agree...why come up with something new when you have the awesome GT to go on. Rumors are saying that Ford instead funneled the money for the next gen GT into Lincoln, but hopefully that is wrong and we will see this car at Detroit.

I'd love to see it priced and ready to go toe to toe with the Z06, but this car has traditionally been set at a level above Corvette. Except this time, Corvette has bigger guns than before.

Bring it on!

The only thing that made the gt "over" or at a "higher level" then the vette was price. The z06 and zr1 had no problem matching or beating it on the track. Sadly though most of them are tucked away in a garage waiting for its turn across the auction block for stupid money.
