Chevy usually has the same relative body style, without any major changes for 4 to 5 years do to the cost of retooling and other variables. 5th gen is the best.

I wouldn't worry about buying one and waiting for a new body style, my guess that a new body style won't be until 2013 or later, and if then, they really can't do much better than the 5th gen style. If you like the body style, then just get it.

yea i guess your right... besides even if i do prefer the new body style when ever it does come out i dont really feel like spending 40k on a new car.

The next gen Camaro will be on a new platform, possibly 2015.

Motleigh 07-18-2011 11:40 AM

Personally, I don't see them changing much other than small tweaks for quite awhile. I can see them adding a spoiler or changing the front slightly but no drastic changes for about a decade. the 5th gens are so much better than any other generations, I can't imagine them messing with a winner. when the sales start to drop drastically, then They will come out with the 6th gens

When the body style changes it will be hard to improve upon the current styling. But if they do improve upon it, you can still be glad that your "late model" Camaro still looks better than the crap 99% of other cars on the road look like.

I think they are planning on changing from the Zeta platform to the smaller, lighter Alpha platform sometime around 2015-ish.

What's the latest news on the Alpha platform?

Last I heard it was having weight problems:

I'm guessing 2014 as a 2015 model.

Ford is coming out with the next gen mustang as a 2014 model for the 50th anniversary. I wouldn't think GM will be much further behind.

this makes the most sense--a new model for the 50th anniversary. since 2012 is the 45th anniversary, say 2017. seems the most logical.

honestly even when the 2010 camaros came out, i still liked my 4th gen better. it was equally as fast and i just liked the look better. i don't have my 4th gen anymore and so the 5th is growing on me much more. still, i think you'll probably feel the same about your 5th gen when the 6th gen comes out.

2015 is the (for now) scheduled release date for Gen 6. Car will likely move to Alpha platform as well...

Yea, I think you can take this to the bank. Between the new CAFE standards, the Mustang new generation coming 2014, and the Alpha platform needing more than just the Cadillac; 2015 will be the Gen6.

I hope the Gen6 is somewhat molded from the Gen2 and thus conducive to a T-type configuration. This requires a single side glass and a somewhat wrap-around back glass. Also helps the current visiblity issues and keeps the Gen5 unique.

You'd think the 2013 model will get some minor facial and/or rear changes.

1BAD_SS 07-18-2011 01:53 PM

well thanks to all of you for your input.. alot of what you guys are saying makes alot of sense.. i guess i will just pull the trigger on a GEN5 i mean they are awsome cars and how much can it really be improved (looks wise)? hope that when ever they do make a change it wont be a big one...

That's just part of Murphey's Law.

No matter how long you wait, and soon as you order something, a new one comes out.

I ordered my Vert back in Jan 11, they started production Feb 11, and before mine was built, they announced the up-coming ZL1.

Now if they offered the ZL1 as a Vert, I'd order one today.
