Hope not...ugly

SRT8Tech 03-02-2013 10:51 AM

Where did that come from........

Angrybird 12 03-02-2013 10:56 AM

No it's not and you can take it to the bank.

jkupa10 03-02-2013 10:56 AM

No. That's the 130R concept car, it's a sporty 4cyl RWD car that could probably compete with the FR-S and BRZ (if it were produced). See also: TRU140S.

midnighter 03-02-2013 10:57 AM

The C7 Corvette is the new Camaro.

GMTool 03-02-2013 11:00 AM

Don't worry, that's not it. Not that I know anything, but I would bet big money, that's not it.

Angrybird 12 03-02-2013 11:12 AM

Yes that is last years Code 130R concept
Not the Camaro. As FBodfather said if anyone posts a picture and says that's the new Camaro they are wrong.

SQUALO 03-02-2013 11:29 AM

I hope not.
If GM sports cars continues to go the route of European styling, this company is in big trouble. Case in point with the ugly(IMO) C7 Corvette, that looks like a Ferrari 548 from the front, and a 5th Gen Camaro on steroids, from the back.

GM designers get it together, stop trending with everyone else, and be yourself for goodness sake.

dkp2LT 03-02-2013 11:33 AM

I would hope it is not the new Camaro, but I kind of like it.

FenwickHockey65 03-02-2013 12:21 PM

It's a chopped Code 130R.

I am with you 100% on this. I also think that the C7 looks fugly as hell.

Oh man, look new changes! We don't the icon I just used in the smiley box anymore, but we do have THIS: :stingray:....

:emoticon1:

ayyob83 03-02-2013 01:07 PM

the lights looks like BMW and the grill well we know from where.

but really it's ugly, and the design is kinda wrong

the lights are small and the grill is too big.

BTW didn't i saw this picture with different design ?

lbls1 03-02-2013 04:11 PM

I have to agree with post #8. It seems that the GM designs as of late have been a hit or miss. The designs are busier and are not as crisp as some of the concepts we've seen from 2008. Some of the intent of the designs look ambitious, but one or two of them (Corvette) needed more studio time IMO.

That car from the OP might be a nice edition as a new model, but it would look strange as a camaro. GM has to think hard on this one. The camaro design has to walk the tight rope between nostalgia and modern appeal.

GunnyG 03-02-2013 04:13 PM

Call me crazy...I like the design. Just not the 4-cylinders of the 130-R concept.

If GM does make a 4-cylinder version, it won't be for the same guys driving V8s. It also will be no slouch. The reason they didn't do it this time around is that the car wasn't "fun" to drive. With less weight, less power might be necessary to make the car fun.

I understand what your saying but this phrase by itself is the exact opposite of how I and about 99% of the people who by a muscle car feel...:drum:

Angrybird 12 03-02-2013 05:41 PM

Here's the real new Camaro

If GM takes that car, gets rid of the middle grille bar and the ridiculously large bow tie, makes the head lights bigger and gives it some decent performance, that might be a solid entry sports car.

Yall need to :readthethread:...

The picture is of the Code 130R concept, NOT THE CAMARO. It's not a muscle car, it's not a performance car. It is designed to be a sporty-looking, fuel-efficient, cheaper, fun car marketed to younger buyers.

I think that looks sharp.

Not everything needs to be as aerodynamic as a brick.

I remember those days. I had a 71 hatchback, my first new car. Traded it for my first Camaro...

buckeyemike 03-03-2013 01:00 AM

That "European" styling that you guys are bashing is one of the reasons Cadillac is still in business.

I won't believe anything anyone from GM says after the leak of the decade Corvette....

However, that shit heap certainly isn't the next Camaro...

mntgome1 03-03-2013 10:29 AM

I'd drive it....

ayyob83 03-03-2013 10:38 AM

now if the new design were taken from this design and few changes like the head lights were together like chevy Tahoe if you understand me, and the grill lets say they are separated like the Silverado without the ugly chrome.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-04FT4dYhaV...amaro+1968.jpg

and the tail lights kinda looks like this but with new design and cuter

http://stwot.motortrend.com/files/20...r-1024x640.jpg

i think it might have a chance to be cool and great new design for the 6th Gen.

and sorry if no one understand me lol, cause i'm terrible at explaining.

I'd like to see someone draw that. That could be cool.

OUTATIME 03-03-2013 11:21 AM

I'd have to see the rear, and at least the render not on a magazine page to judge. That looks like the Code 130R with some enhancements and sized to fit the expected chassis.

If you guys all think it's a disappointment, it's a shame. I think it looks OK - but I think our generation looks better. Let's hope this was just a speculative render not based on anything any journalist has seen in a GM design studio or whatever . . .

Edit: I think this is from the April Car and Driver? We won't see that picture on their website for another month.

el ess A 03-03-2013 11:22 AM

I'd drive it...

...right off a cliff. Or into a wall.

hale95 03-05-2013 01:33 AM

Guess I'll still be driving my 2010 in 2016 before I buy that cross over between a volvo and BMW; looks more like a SUV wanna be than a sports car. Where is the personality? Where is the "I am a Camaro" look. It looks like any other "performance" car on the street. Hope they change alot of things else I'll be driving a Mustang. lol

No need to worry....that is not the new Camaro.

Even if it's not, I could see that front end being modded to look like a 2nd Gen...

(the one from the first post, that is)...lol

MikeC5 03-05-2013 02:36 PM

Why do we need a new one, what's wrong with the one we have now?:bonk:

Nobody knows what it'll look like except those lucky enough to be in the heart of the team working on it....and they're smart enough to keep quiet.

Short answer: no. It's not. It's a rendering heavily based on that weird-looking 130R concept car.

For one, a brand new Mustang is right around the corner.
