How long will 5th gen Camaro body style be produced?

How many years will these cars be available? I would assume 10 years but curious if theres any rumblings.

Also how long will the current engine (LS3) stick around? I dont wanna buy a Camaro to only have a "new one" come out thats putting out more HP.

I hope prodiced long enough "as is"...

As for the increasing HP... Guess that's always a risk you take.

Right, theres always ways to increase over and above the factory output. Plus you can't beat the fun of modding and the thrill of driving it after knowing YOU did the work!

I see them keeping this body style with only minor face lifts for about 5 to 6 years. I love this body style so I don't see myself trading mine for a newer one

Bad70supreme 01-11-2011 07:50 AM

The new body will be lighter, handle better and be faster! I LOVE the car as is and I hope it sticks around for a wiel too...but when the new one comes out, I am sure it will be pretty bad a$$!

There's been numerous threads on this subject. The Gen6 is suppose to come out on the new lighter platform in 2014 as the 2015 model. So us Gen5 owners will have only a five year run versus the typical 10 years.

PORSCHE 911 has maintained nearly the same look for decades. I know if you take an old one and a brand new one there would be obvious major change but ober the years it has been subtle tweaks and improvements. wish that was the case with this car

This can also be said about how the 370Z has evolved. I personally like that GM has gone a different direction with every generation.

This Gen5 car was all about style. I believe the Gen6 car will be all about beating the Mustang in the press. This means a smaller/lighter car that is more nimble and has good visibility (more glass). I'm sure the Gen6 car will look great but it won't be close to what the Gen5 car is. Just look at like the Gen2 cars. They were great cars in their own right, but never matched a Gen1 car in style.

My plan is to give this one to my 12 y/o in 4 years and buy a new one.

I would not be opposed to ths car being scaled down in size and weight but I think the general look should be maintained. I plan to buy the next gen when it comes around and keep this one as well. unless chevy ruins the car in the next generation.

Make him buy it from you for like 3K. 99% chance he won't appreciate it if you just hand it to him, but at least he'll get on board early on how to manage money so he won't be broke when he's in his 30s.

I am trying to convince my 12 year old son to start making down payments to me now so that when he graduates High School I can hand him the keys. He isn't buying into that theory yet.
