Would You Trade Your Vehicle To Get A 6th Gen or Buy?

What would it take for you to consider trading/buying a 6th Gen Camaro when it finally hits the streets? :chevy:

FINALLYSATISFIED 02-13-2013 07:53 PM

I feel like there are alot of threads like this already floating around. We know nothing about the 6th Gen Camaro. Until then, I won't decide...The way your Camaro looks, I wouldn't trade it in. Truly one of a kind.

POWERFREAK 02-13-2013 07:53 PM

kinda hard to say without actually seeing what the 6th gen is gonna look like.

I know man true. :( Their pictures floating around but, nothings really final yet. Would be nice if anyone got any solid information on specs and e.t.c. please post thanks. :help:

POWERFREAK 02-13-2013 08:05 PM

Still like mine...it would take a lot to make me get rid of it (i dont see it happening).

If you put in alot mods and money into your ride. You know you'll never really get your money back. So the smart thing would be keep it.

KMPrenger 02-13-2013 09:31 PM

I'm already confident it will perform well.

But looks will be the deciding factor. Don't care what anyone says, but if the car looks fantastic, even if the performance isn't as beast as some think it should be...it will sell.

But honestly, with the car getting a nice diet, I can't see how it would perform worse.

Nothing, been waiting for it since 2010. Now the wait is harder knowing it will be smaller and lighter. As long as the design isnt butchered i am all on board.

heRS 02-14-2013 10:04 AM

It would have to be pretty cool when it does come out, I really like my 2010.

schleprock67 02-17-2013 08:27 PM

Nope, no trade here

Wouldn't trade my 2SS/RS IBM for anything. If I like the 6Gen, I'll buy one of those too, otherwise, I will continue looking for my perfect Gen1 or Gen2. :D

Frid 02-17-2013 08:50 PM

Enjoy mine too much to sell it :). Not to mention all the money that is tied up in it.

Yup you have a sweet car ...So far im not impressed with any of the drawings of 6th Gen,that being said ,It would really have to knock my socks off to trade in my ZL1!

OldScoolCamaro 02-18-2013 05:21 PM

It's about bang for the buck, the look, styling, and overall performance. If it knocks my socks off, it's eye candy to my liking, and it out performs my 2012 ZL1, then heck yes! I'll trade my hot iron in for the next beast, in a heartbeat, if it's better in 90% percent of the catagories of my personal liking. I am not by any means someone to chase the latest and greatest, I am a working class guy, but I am a working class guy not affraid to go out on a financial limb to achieve Camaro Nirvana. ;) :D

RandyT 02-19-2013 05:58 PM

I really love my 2012 SS but it will depend on what it looks like and engine combos

45th4ken 02-21-2013 10:49 AM

I havent even put my exhaust on yet. Sheesh. I'm happy with that I have. My eyes are on a 2015 911 4S. This maybe the only Camaro I ever own.

midnighter 02-21-2013 10:52 AM

I'd rather play it safe and say NO.

Quickstir 02-21-2013 11:20 AM

I wouldn't trade in my car. I hope to keep it the first new car I have ever bought. Might consider buying a 6th gen a few years after it comes out.

Wizard1183 02-21-2013 11:37 AM

A 500+HP camaro "core" edition where they eliminate ALL luxury crap they have now such as AC, power windows, power locks, rear seat, OnStar. Add larger radiator, carpet interior, hood and trunk lid carbon fiber. Better brakes and suspension. No fancy front facia. Just a bare bones street brawler. Hell, use black steel wheels for all i care lol.

You mean like a Mustang Cobra R? Or a COPO Camaro? :iono:

I know what you mean. Something most of us could actually afford.

IMJ 02-21-2013 12:30 PM

Basically after owning and '11 which I paid off and now a '12 which is nearly paid off, I'd have to see the following criteria before even considering it:

-I've got the title for my '12 - no rollover loans
-the 6th Gen is truly, visually more appealing, smaller, lighter but can still fit me in the car from head to toe
-the 6th gen truly walks on the 5th gen in terms of lateral acceleration. Not "has potential too", or "if you do this", but rather, walks on it in the 1/4

If all three of those things aren't there then it wouldn't even cross my mind.

HDRDTD 02-21-2013 12:31 PM

Don't care about a 6th Gen.
I'm keeping my 2013 ZL1 vert till I die.
I like it THAT much.

No not COPO. Street legal AND VERY AFFORDABLE. The Dodge Challenger is coming out with a core chally for $39K which will be basically a semi bare bones edition. Now I know we arent going to go in reverse so power lock and windows will be until they figure auto, touch screen or voice activated whatever.... But remove the luxury, add more horses and stabalize it with suspension upgrades and bring the price down say at LEAST $5000 less than an SS. Basic interior, no rear seat, no impressive rims, matte finish on maybe hood roof and turnk deck. Check out those Chally Cores.

Your in the market for the wrong car. Build it yourself or buy a Copo. Chevrolet won't release a general Camaro like that. This isn't the 1970s. You mean VERY CHEAP. Those Dodge/Chrysler "cores" your referring to isn't AFFORDABLE for most still. The Chrysler 300 SRT8 MSRPs are out there for $59k and the "core" version is $55k. They didn't take out any rear seats, AC, in that model, etc.

The SS 1LE could be considered a "core" for the ZL1 somewhat. 1LE is affordable at $35k for the 1SS. If your wanting a V6 get a LS and remove the seats, AC, etc. Affordable and cheap just the way your wanting it. Hell even GM sells the matte black vinyl for the hood and trunk that you want. The steelies are perfect for the "affordable" look your going for.

You bought a 2SS and asking for a cheap Camaro in other words with nothing electronic. Buy a golf car and drop a LS7 in it.

From past threads, I've come to believe that strippers, light-weights, etc..from the factory aren't gonna happen..."They just won't sell"...

Best to build your own when the price of these cars come down in a few years...probably do it cheaper than the factory, anyways....

Z Boss 02-25-2013 04:02 PM

I'm already committed to a 6th gen at some point (view my garage) but the question is whether or not I have to wait 3 years again for the hot gen 6 package (like the ZL1 in year 3 of gen 5) or will Chevy offer a 7.0 L normally aspirated Z28 in year one? I'll be waiting GM!!

2010 yellow 2ss/rs 02-25-2013 05:24 PM

ZL1

BoostedX2 02-27-2013 12:41 PM

Drove a manual ATS today--2.0 turbo. Loved the way it felt, shifts, handling, interior. Had a little less room inside than my ZL1 but when I put the seat back I could stretch my legs all the way out. It even had more headroom than the Camaro with sunroof. I think the 6th gen is in good hands, especially if we can share some of the cadillac paint magic...

mr02Z/28 02-27-2013 04:38 PM

I will possibly sell my 2002 Z/28 depending on what the 2015 6th Gen has to offer or I will just outright buy one.

matthook 03-07-2013 09:32 AM

Renegade if you trade/sell your car, I'd totally buy it from you. Haha

Maverick1776 03-08-2013 07:35 PM

I just picked up my 2013 2LS Inferno Orange, and started putting money into it.
I would have to say no. I love my car way to much to trade it in for a new gen.
If only you knew what I traded in order to get a Camaro, you would understand. Lol
Now if I had the money to toss around for a 2nd car, I would have to be totally blown away by the car's design in order to even consider it.

The way Chevy showed off the new Stingray was out of this world.
If they have that same affect with the 6th gen Camaro, it will be very hard to resist.

abaucom21 03-09-2013 11:16 AM

Fell in love with the 5th Gen. concept but waited until May 2010 to preorder a 2011 2LT, before the 2011 models went into production. Did not need another car but loved the Gen. 5 body style. I am older, low milage driver, said to self, this might be last new car purchase (I paid cash) and can be happy with Gen 5 body style for the next 10-15 years (or before I die).
Will consider a Gen 6 Camaro only if offered in a true two door hardtop coupe, pillarless body style like the Gen 5 concept. Was considering a Mercedes 'E' class pillarless hardtop coupe before buying the Camaro.
Love my 2011 Camaro as is but not my perfect auto. Plastic interior needs to be improved with better quality finishes/materials. Would prefer a pillarless two door hardtop coupe, might even consider a convertible.
Not much interested in a smaller Camaro. If Camaro get smaller, might as well go for a 2014 Corvette (sort of like the body style). Not interested in a downsized Gen 6 Camaro with no backseat space and limited trunk space. If I tire of my Gen 5 Camaro, and Gen 6 is downsized, I am going to a new Corvette, or for a 2016 Mercedes 'E' class coupe (Mercedes 'E' class 2-door coupe body style will be all new in 2016).

fcu678 03-12-2013 04:25 PM

I had my dealer start a list for the 6th Gen back in January so I should get their first allocation.
I have waaay too much invested in the 2010 to trade it and I wouldn't trade the ZL1 for less of a Camaro so I guess my answer is "No"
Now depending on how the 6th Gen looks I may consider selling the 2010 but I still have a lot of time to decide. Either way I know I get first choice at it :D

J-Short 03-27-2013 02:11 PM

As much as I hate to admit it, I would in a heartbeat if it was 2016, even if I lost money n trade in.

dirtdog67 03-27-2013 04:04 PM

Maybe

In all honesty, I'm waiting to see a picture before I make any commitment. I absolutely adore my Gen5, but I'm champing at the bit to see pictures of the Gen6.

:headbang5thgen:

usnavydoc 03-29-2013 02:52 PM

If GM improves the quality of the paint and the manual transmission I will trade in for one.

motorhead 03-29-2013 02:54 PM

I don't plan on trading my ZL1 for any car ,but I will buy a 6th gen if they are worth buying.

I don't think he has one, or it's an older gen. :iono:
