Do you like auto dimming mirrors?

I for one would love a way to toggle the auto dimming to "on" on my mirrors. Does anyone know of an aftermarket way to do this for the 6Gens or is there a way to do it that I missed in the owners manual.:noidea:

HATE IT

I enjoyed it in the Lexus I had that had the feature.

hate that it is not on the passenger side

I love that. Had it in my bimmer. All three were self dimming. It works with Electrochromic and there is no switch or toggle.

It doesn't work as well on the Gen 6 as it does on my Infiniti. So I'd rate it as "ok".

I actually work at the company that makes the mirrors for our Camaros and pretty much every car that was mentioned here. I do wish Chevy would have incorporated it into the passenger side as well. Question I have is, why would you want to turn it off? I'm not asking this to be difficult by any means.

I love the feature....On some business travel, I had a rental Chrysler 300S and it had a setting to enable/disable the auto-dimming feature in the nav system.

In my case I don't want to turn it off, but want to have it dim more often than it does. Now that so many modern cars have DRLs I liked to have my mirror on "night" most of the time. My old '13 1SS had a manual mirror and I loved it.

So I was just curious how others viewed the feature.

Do you leave your headlight in automatic mode? It only comes on with your headlights, so if you turn your headlights on it should activate the mirror. As long as the light coming from in front of the mirror is slightly darker than behind, the mirror should dim out.

I love it! I have it on both my Beemers, my Ram truck, this Camaro and many of the cars I've had over the last 10 years! I can't find a single reason to dislike it, and would hate to be without it now! Kinda like power mirrors and smart cruise.... once you've had them it's hard to go back!

I don't like auto-dimming mirrors in most cases. In the Camaro, it's not nearly as bad. But, still don't like them.

2 reasons:
1) It sometimes seems to dim when I want it to be bright (or be bright when I want it to be dim). For instance, if no one is right behind me, I want it to be bright so I can see cars far away. And, it'll be dim. Things like that.

2) I often have kids in the back. With a flippable mirror, I can just flip the mirror switch and instantly go from seeing out the rear window, to seeing my kids (usually when they are fighting and I gotta give them "the look"). Can't do that without a dimmer switch.

Hate it!! Far to slow to respond and it doesn't cover the entire mirror. Would prefer the old style with the little tab at the bottom to flip. Some things don't need to be made electronic.
