Quick questions
Is the 2016 Camaro going to be a 5th or 6th Generation car? What makes a car belong to a certain Generation?
|
It basically comes down to the body style, the current 5th gens started in 2010 till current, the 6th gens will have a new body style significantly different from the 5th and should arrive as a 2015 or 2016 model.

The 2016 Camaro will be a 6th Gen built on the Zeta platform in Lansing Michigan.
2015 will be the last year of the 5th Gen built in Oshawa Canada |
So they did the remodel for 2 years? 2013 and 2014 mustang remodel anyone? :o

It's known as a Mid-Cycle change, and is quite common.
Mustang had its last refresh in '10. '05-'14 is Mustang's 5th Generation. CAMARO GENERATIONS: Gen-1 = '67-'69 (some will say '69 was a refresh) Gen-2 = '70-'81 (refresh in '73, '74 and '78) Gen-3 = '82-'92 (refresh in '85, '91) Gen-4 = '93-'02 (refresh in '98) Gen-5 = '10-'15 (refresh in '14) Gen-6 = '16+ Each Generation shares a relatively "common" platform-chassis. MCEs generally involve a facelift attached to the "current" body shape. Special Edition models are not necessarily an MCE. |
