ZL1 vs Hellcat
Let's make this thread about the ZL1 vs the Hellcat. These cars will be really close in performance metrics. I am curious what everyone has to say about the matchup these 2 will face together.
I'm think the 0-60 times will be very close with an edge to the ZL1 with the 10 spd auto. The ZL1 will be very quick with the auto. Quarter mile times will be close as well. Gonna be a great matchup. |
This should be moved to the Vs section, though.

You should specify 2017 ZL1

IMO after the 1/4 there is nothing else performance wise to compare. The ZL1 should handle the cat in most other categories. Top end maybe :iono:

I guess there is 0 to whatever and roll racing if that's your thing.

Probably be pretty even in the quarter, everything else will be no contest, ZL1 will dominate.

It's hard to debate this subject until we know the weight of the 2017 ZL1.
I will tell you that the ZL1 will hook better than Hellcat with those skinny tires on. I saw a Hellcat loosing to a N/A Mustang, because he was just spinning tires and making noise, while the Mustang disappeared. |
As far as the 1/4 goes I hope GM will put a little bit more effort in their runs. It would be to their benefit and don't forget to invite NHRA to witness those passes lol.

The Hellcat is way too heavy. It has no room to put real meats in the rear. The seats are lazy boy recliners. And last but NOT least, it's a Dodge.
Absolutely no comparison. |

cts-v 200mph i suspect camaro will be aero limited below that?? |
My prediction:
On stock tires the ZL1 will win everywhere but possibly a basically even 70-120. On a road course the Hellcat has no chance even if it ran slicks (ever in it's life). On the 1/4 track if both cars run drag radials it could be a pretty even race. |
In a recent review the CTS-V was faster than the Hellcat to 60 and the 1/4 mile. I suspect the track would not even be close. So I expect the ZL1 being even lighter will prove the larger HP number is necessary but not sufficient.
