Camaro a no-show in Detroit, but GM confirms a 2015 reveal

General Motors Co.'s Chevrolet brand confirmed Monday it plans to introduce next-generation versions of five cars this year, including the Volt, Cruze, Malibu, Camaro and Spark.

Mark Reuss, GM's head of global product development, confirmed GM would show new versions of the cars during 2015. The 2016 Volt was the first.

GM North America President Alan Batey said the Chevrolets will enhance what he called "the strongest product lineup in the history of the brand."

"By the end of 2015, 95 percent of the U.S. Chevrolet lineup will be all new or significantly updated compared to just four years ago," Batey said.

Chevrolet sold more than 2.03 million vehicles in the U.S. in 2014, up 4.4 percent.

Reuss said it wouldn't stop with cars and that GM's full-size pickups — new for the 2014 year —will continue to receive updates.

"Look for a lot of excitement, technology, everything on those trucks," Reuss said. "We're in it to win."

Reuss said expect to see some updates on full-size trucks, including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, this calendar year.

So, a reveal in the second half of this year (Q3 or Q4) will mean production and then release in...Q1 or Q2 of '16?

I dont want to be that guy but you dont need to talk with the other world to see this is going to be a dark dark year for camaro... unless the 6 gen is something out of this world, I feel the camaro is already behind the stang and the challenger, this year the old 5 gen will have to be compared against cars like the hellcat, the gt350r... and not a clue of any high performance variant coming soon for the 6 gen... so that means the 6 gen could be out for sale on 2016 and a possible supercharged Z/28 for 2017?

The Challenger???

They're playing catch up to the 5Gen Camaro. Then the 6Gen.

Reveal has no fixed relation to production.

This car will be available 4Q 2015, print this page out and frame it.

Why the second half of the year? We have two major auto shows to go still.

I'm guessing a reveal between now and April with production starting in early October 2015

I honestly think the GT350R will catch up the Z/28 and the hellcat is one hell of a car, the camaro could be "faster" but the stang and the challenger are way more comftable, more refined and advanced machines to be honest the interior of the 5 gen look like 10 year old compared to the 2016 cars...

It's all what you're looking for.
The GT350R based on the stats won't be "comfortable". However I do really like the Shelby. The Challenger on the other hand is an old design and chassis at this point, not impressed.

They are frantically working on a 708 HP engine

I would have to assume an April reveal for the camaro with production starting late July and most dealer lots by October
