My thoughts on what the 6th Gen Camaro will look like...

I just remembered two concept vehicles I saw last year at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show and now seeing the new Bumble Bee Camaro, it all makes sense now. The vehicles I'm thinking of are these.... The 130R or the TRU140S. To me, we might be seeing some hints on what the 6th Gen looks like. I can only upload one pic, but let me know your thoughts!

The Bumblebee Camaro probably wasn't created by Chevy at all, but by a movie prop crew and visual effects crew.

ryzrs10 07-04-2013 07:51 PM

I'm sure Chevy was involved somehow in it

littlecammi 07-05-2013 01:50 PM

GM knows people love the 5th gen Camaro's styling. I'm thinking gen 6 will be similar but trimmer, due to the shared platform with the ATS. If the 5th gen is a modernized '69, then the 6th gen will be a modernized '68 (slightly smaller but still the retro-look that we love).

Casperadub70 07-05-2013 01:52 PM

What if for the 6th gens resembled the 2nd gens?

greenrail 07-05-2013 02:14 PM

Better yet, What if the 6th Gen doesn't resemble any previous Camaro!!! Time Marches on!!

I don't know if this article is accurate, but the headline reads that Chevrolet did this transformers concept.

Agarc 07-08-2013 12:08 PM

im sure i read something that both ford and chevy were moving away from the retro thing

wakespeak 07-08-2013 01:30 PM

I would say the Gen5 Camaro is NOT retro. Sure it has some resemblance to the early Camaros, but the Gen5 is definitely a thoroughly modern looking car IMO. If the Gen6 drops the distinctive styling for a "modern" look, then GM loses all it gained with the Gen5.

I still think the Transformers 4 is the Gen6, ie 2014 Gen5 cut to fit on an ATS chassis with some updates.

Boricua 07-08-2013 01:33 PM

I would love to see the 6th Gen look like the 5th but with the smaller Body should look better. Just improving the design. Like bigger trunk opening and better visibility.

That would be a terrible decision.

It should be an evolution of the 5th gen.

PoorMansCamaro 07-08-2013 02:37 PM

pic in the OP looks like a more retarded eclipse.

ryzrs10 07-08-2013 05:49 PM

I agree. The Camaro isn't really retro at all. The only part that looks retro is the side around the window if that makes sense haha.

If anything they should bring that out as a Cruze Sports Coupe.

:barf::emoticon1: Please no 68, might as well go 67. a MUCH better yr both in looks and what started it all. But no retro. I think you'll see some 5th gen in the design, but overall it'll be a much different looking car. 9/10, we're not going to like the look as much as a 5th gen.

Umm...all body panels are the same/interchangable from 67 to 68. Only slight variations are the grille and the 67's had the little quarter vent window.
Now a 69 has a totally different body from the 67/68's.

The 5th gen is a good mash-up of both.

I have a feeling that we will get a evolution of the 5th gen, but the overall 'look' will feel the same.

If the camaro shrinks down to the size of a CTS or ATS...

Won't be the catastrophe you are imagining. From the center of the car subtract an inch from each side. I bet we will barely notice.

The new 2014 CTS:

Wheelbase (in / mm):
114.6 / 2911
Length (in / mm):
195.5 / 4966
Height (in / mm):
57.2 / 1454
Width (in / mm):
72.2 / 1833
Track (in / mm):
front: 61.4 / 1560
rear: 61.7 / 1568
Base curb weight (lb / kg):
3616 / 1640
Weight distribution
(% front / rear):
50.3 / 49.7

Our existing Gen5:

Wheelbase (in/mm): 112.3 / 2852
Overall length (in/mm): 190.4 / 4836
Overall Width: 75.5 / 1918
Overall height: 54.2 / 1377
Track (front) (in/mm): 63.7 / 1618
Track (rear) (in/mm): 64.1 / 1628 (LS, LT)
63.7 / 1618 (SS)

Didn't see this before I posted.... often the movie folks do these on their own, but not always and it appears Chevy had their hand in this one.

Looks like a spark made whoopy with a veyron lol

FenwickHockey65 07-10-2013 07:26 AM

Considering TRU140S is a FWD Delta-II car, it has a better chance of being a next-gen Cruze coupe than a Camaro.

The T4 Camaro is obviously a Zeta-based 5th gen. It just has a different front fascia and body kit. Dimensions are 100% Zeta.

There you go.

It needs to.

You do realize Camaro is currently built on a full size sedan platform? When Zeta was conceived GM was planning on building everything from an Impala to a next-gen Buick Lucerne to a flagship Cadillac sedan on it. Hell the current Caprice (Zeta LWB) is a land barge.

Shrinking it down to fit Alpha and the weight reduction that will come along with that is only a good thing.
