Tire war 2018.

Well F street 2018 is no longer looking like a spec tire class since almost everyone was on Bridgestones last year.

With the rumored BFG coming out

The new Dunlop ZIII, not sure when it will be out.

Bridgestone RE71r as usual.

Should be interesting.

If anyone wants to send me some money I’d be glad to do a test on the new Dunlop vs Bridgestone lol. I still might test them but I just don’t trust grassroots to test them fairly for a few reasons.

It’s the spec tire for SSC.

That’s all I really know about it. Falkens were once the tire to have but they just haven’t had pace. I know the 615k+ is new but I don’t see it being Autox fast. Might be a decent track day tire. All subjective though since I haven’t run them. Do they make them in our size?

The 615k+ is a half step behind the Rival-S and RE71. Wears well, might be cheaper, but can't compete at the top.

Not a lot of sizes for the ZIII, although the 275/35-19 would work for F-Street - https://tyre.dunlop.co.jp/tyre/lineu...t/z3/size.html

Badly need someone to make a 325/30Rr19 or 335 for 2018

Looks like the dunlop in my size will be available mid march..

I'm extremely tempted to try them.

Looking forward to seeing BFG out there.

Do the V720's still de-laminate or do they just do that on the track now?

Any reason you aren't listing the newer Nexens up there? They are as fast as the RE71R, but don't last as long.

P.S. Doing Nats again? Me and my co-driver are.

The nexans are interesting but also spending the money I’d rather get a tire I know is fast. Yep I’m doing spring nats, Toledo tour and nats this year. Well that’s the plan so far.

I was under the impression the Nexens were only fast if your name is Heitkotter.

Just saw another delaminated 720 on one of the CAM facetube pages.

Side note, 305 RE71s on 10" wheels are the suck to mount.

I honestly think he runs nexans for the challenge of winning on a slow tire. I would also if I were that fast!

I can imagine! 275 on an 8.5 is quite a pain.

When I read this it reminded me of when my 305 RE71's arrived at the tire shop and the guy said it was going to be very difficult to get them on (11" front and 12" rear). Surprisingly they actually went on fairly smooth.

Our local shop has had no problem getting the 305 RE71R onto the MRR FS01 10"

This the same shop that happily got 255/40-18's on my Focus ST 8' wheels.

side question. should I be looking into a 265/40-18 on a 9.5? or a 275/35-18?

is that more "acceptable"?:iono:

Some people think for autoX you want to go as wide of a tire as the wheel will take. I run 19" wheels but the principals are the same. I would look into what a shorter wheel and tire combo does to your gearing but I think 275 would work just fine. Most if not all FS camaros run 275 square
