Passive unlock...?
So I've been fiddling with my settings and I turned on the Passive lock which locks the car by itself when I walk away right? Shouldn't the Passive UN-lock work the same way? Ive tried different things to check it and it never works....just the buttons to unlock :/

Just the buttons to unlock. To big of a liability to let anyone enter your car just because your close and unlocks it. Also, would use way to my if your battery constantly searching for a connection. I don't think any manufacture provides that feature of unlocking without touch a button or resting your finger on a pad etc.

Mine locks when I walk away and touching the door handle button when I'm near unlocks.... Which is fine since it's right on the handle you need to touch to open the door.
Never need to touch my fob or use a key. Works great |

No need to ever take FOB out of pocket. Just push the little button on the door, as your reaching to open the door anyway. One push on either door will unlock both of them. I like the way the Camaro works. Bonus: The trunk button will also open the trunk as long as your FOB is in range if the car is locked. If your car is not locked, that trunk button will always work FOB or not. |
Passive unlock...?

Interesting!! That sound terribly dangerous. You are telling me all you have to do is be near the corvette for the doors to u lock without having to press a pad or pull on the door handle? I know some cars that also unlock when you grab the handle, but I mean just being next to the car with fob unlocks it? If so, so cool Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not sure if the newer ones are still the same or not. Technology has come a long way since 1996 with the touch pads. Why do you think it would be "terribly dangerous"? |
I still need keys to get in my house. Perhaps I need some fancy electronic lock to get in my house.

^ You know they make remote door locks now....

There is great episode of top gear where Hammond is sitting in a diner eating with his SRT FOB in his pocket and Jeremy is able to get in the car, start it, and move it. Basically my fear would be being close enough to my car but not being able to see it and having someone just walk up, open it, and take something or drive it off (although former more likely than latter). GM changed this recently. My 2012 SRX has a small flat body colored bad on the handle to lock the vehicle manually with the fob in my pocket. There is no button to press when opening the door with passive unlock, just pull the handle when right next to the door with my fob in my pocket. I think they changed it 2 or 3 years ago to the actual button that needs to be pressed.

Little misleading. On my 2006 Z51 you had to as all C6 place hand in the handle and squeeze. the buttons behind that little rubber deal did the same as Camaro. |

But the passive FOB for my '96 won't unlock the door until you are within about 8 ft of the car. Like as your walking up to it, just before you get to the door you hear the doors unlock. The Camaro (and it seems newer Corvettes), you need to push the button on the door handle (or with Corvette, push on the pad behind the handle). You still need the FOB to be within 7-10 Ft for it to work. The button on the FOB will lock or unlock from a much farther distance, but the passive feature only works in really close range. |

Makes sense. I wonder if they changed it due to privacy/security concerns? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
