Well, that's the pits. I think it's much too soon for this. :iono:

Just like the 2009 Camaro that was supposed to arrive in 2008, add at least a year to this estimate. Looking foward to the next gen, but still working on getting my fifth gen. They would have to make it pretty awesome to out do what they've done with the fifth gen, and it will probably cost $40,000 or more for a v-8 by then.

thats crazy! so the smaller alpha platform is going to weigh more than the current car and be smaller? |

Well I just spent $5000 of my ZL1 money on a 3rd gen 1le. I need to increase my savings to make sure I can buy a new 5th gen ZL1 before the 6th gen comes out.
|
my LS1 gets 28 hwy and is 10 years old...i think they should consider a TT LS1 in the next gen..if they can add direct injection and vvt to it, it will have plenty of power and fuel mileage.
|
We probably should start looking at the Hyundai - Genesis Coupe foot print of 3,400 lbs, 182" long and 111" wheelbase. It seems the Camaro and Mustang are heading in that direction. Maybe this is more inline (sure the wheelbase is much shorter) with the original pony; '64 Mustang.
I wonder if the Challenger will stay with the 300/Charger platform. There's certainly not enough sales for it's own smaller platform. Does Dodge have a small RWD platform? |

Looks to me like the big V8 horsepower reunion and retro party is over come 2015....., so party now like it's 1999!

Glad I got mine when I did, I hate change lol
|
i really would not mind having a v-6 TT,i hardly use all the power mine has now,i never take it to the track,i just like having the power in case i need to use it,i would love to be able to afford a ls9 supercharger for mine but i would have a huge increase in insurance premiums do to tickets then could not afford the car,i currently have 414 rwhp.and 412 trq.,i have been debating on throwing a cam.in it,only hold back is i will have too much $$ in it and it not be considered into trade value should i elect to trade her in for the ZL1.

It just doesn't seem kosher. But.... I who am I to judge?
I imagine it will look AWESOME regardless of smaller chassis etc., However, IT WILL NOT DELAY ME FROM GETTING A ZL1. I need the elbow room and if I am correct, the ZL1 will have TONS of refinement built in. The 5th GEN kinks have been worked out by GM and aftermarket, so I suspect we are getting a wonderful vehicle with ZL1. My only reservation, will be WHAT COLORs will be available! The auto tranny cinched it for me! One more thing...it just seems that as you go to the smaller shorter wheelbase, you addmore potential to become a rattletrap ... affected by road bumps, etc. The current "HEAVY" Camaro is fine with me! "ZL1 HEAVY preparing for takeoff" ... Runway 1 Left! |
eh...

Here's the Cadillac ATS spec sheet from GMInsideNews.com for an insight of what may be in store for the 6th Gen Camaro...
(Caveat: Pure Speculation!!!) Please say NO to an inline 4. :confused0068: http://images.thecarconnection.com/m...00337681_m.jpg |
The second generation muscle car era will end as quickly as the first one did. Supercharging or turbo charging a V-6 is not all that bad. My tweeked NASCAR 3.8 Supercharged Pontiac runs pretty good for a 3400# car. GM needs to lose the weight on their new cars. Period.

lol notice there is no curb weight

Remember that Lee is not longer heading the design group.. The new Camaro will have an entirely different look. Perhaps they will use cues from the current Chevy dual grill. Obviously GM has to keep the Camaro fresh to keep sales up. I for one will not be parting with my 5th Gen unless they dazzle the shit out of me....There have been some crazy years and versions of the Camaro over the years and the changes have usually been wholesale so expect something really different in many ways.
